6 months later

Well, half a year has almost gone by since my last post. No one seemed to notice - which I thank Facebook and flickr for. This blog was started to keep my family and distance friends up to date with the happenings in the Hamers' household, but now that I've converted some to FB, there isn't much need.

However, I am growing tired of FB and all the non-privacy it so wonderfully provides, so I am slowly withdrawing, and I will make an effort now to pay more attention to this form of story telling and bragging about my sweet little girls!!

Speaking of which, today was a very busy day full of "first's" for them: skiing and snorkling (sort of)!

We started out this morning with a 10 am ski lesson at a small ski centre in Toronto. Very modest little hill - perfect for the girls. We were greeted by Alissa who Kate immediately took to with big smiles, and Andrew who Emma smiled at then turned away in shyness. Neither hesitated taking hands and off they went. Of course Gerald and I never left the bottom of the very small slightly sloped hill. Gerald worked the video camera and I had my camera snapping shots at every instruction they were given.

After a while, hearing much giggling from both girls if they fell and seeing huge smiles on their faces as they descended closer to us at the bottom - we went in to warm up. Only for a moment, as we realized that we were having so much fun watching them having so much fun, we didn't want to miss a second of it!

The kids were pooped after an hour, but ready to go back out for their next lesson next Sunday! We were incredibly proud of our little ski bunnies!

The next thing we did this evening was head to the hot tub. Although, not their first time of course, but this time they brought in their new snorkel gear that Daddy decided to pick them up at Costco. Gerald and I are both avid SCUBA divers, but he being a dive Master and Instructor, he is counting down the days until he can get the girls into the water to experience the awesome deep waters of wrecks, and the ocean's wonderful world. So, until the girls turn 8 years old - this will have to do.

We could not keep these two above water even for a second of instruction! They thought it was so cool that they could not only see underwater, but breathe! All of a sudden they were mermaids, then underwater explorers, then mermaids, then dive Instructor's like Daddy - then back to being a hair stylist and pretending to wash our hair and put icing in it (as they saw at the salon when I was getting my hair highlighted) Those who have kids the same age as Emma and Kate know exactly how much fun this all is. More than likely for us then them!!

Had I not been in the hot tub when I realized that I should have grab the camera, I would have had half a dozen or so pictures of them in their masks and snorkel as well!!

Ah, it was a wonderful day. Sunday's often are around here.
